Scott Taylor Sweeps Crandon – Makes it Three in Row - Opens up a
Slight Lead in the Points Chase
Belvidere, IL (September 6, 2007) – Scott Taylor and his #8
Skyjacker Suspensions Roush Performance Justice Brothers Miller
Electric BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 entered the biggest weekend of
racing on the World Series of Off-Road Racing schedule, the
BorgWarner Off-Road World Championships, in a tight three-way battle
for the 2007 PRO-2WD championship.
When the weekend was complete, Taylor Racing had not only won Rounds
10 and 11, but finished second overall (first 2WD truck) in the
prestigious BorgWarner World Championship Manufacturers’ Shootout.
By winning Round 10, Scott was also awarded another World
Championship ring to add to his trophy case.
In the process of taking the top spots, Scott increased his
Championship points lead to thirteen points, over second place
driver Mike Oberg.
Saturday – Round 10
The start saw Scott tuck in behind #99 Kevin Probst, as the field
exited Potowatomi Turn One. The two short course veterans held their
positions until lap 6, when Probst went wide going through the Barn
Turn, giving the Skyjacker Ford an opening to take the lead.
The finishing order was Scott Taylor-1st, Kevin Probst-2nd, and Todd
LeDuc-3rd.
Sunday – Round 11
The land rush start saw Scott come out of the first turn in second
place, right behind #80 Mike Oberg. As the two leaders went through
Turn One, a second time, Scott passed Oberg on the outside of the
turn to take the lead. The #8 Ford F-150 took the win with an eight
second cushion over the second place finisher. The top three
finishers, in order, were: 1st-Scott Taylor, 2nd-Mike Oberg, and
3rd-Carl Renezeder.
That makes it three wins in a row for Taylor Racing.
BorgWarner World Championship Manufacturers’ Shootout
The PRO-2WD trucks started in front of the main grandstand, giving
them about a fifteen second head start over the quicker PRO-4x4
trucks. The start saw Oberg quickly jump out in front. Then going
down the back straightaway, Scott passed Oberg for the lead. Now the
nearly 50,000 spectators, watched in anticipation, as Johnny Greaves
weaved his way through the pack, trying to catch Scott Taylor in his
Roush Performance powered Ford F-150. Scott’s best defense would be
the trail of trucks between the two hard charging crowd favorites.
With three laps to go, Greaves caught the Skyjacker Ford, and took
over the lead for good. The official BorgWarner Shootout finishing
order was: 1st – Johnny Greaves, 2nd-Scott Taylor (1st 2WD),
3rd-Carl Renezeder, 4th-Scott Douglas, 5th –Mike Oberg (2nd 2WD).

Afterwards, Scott Taylor had some time to look back on this
weekend.
“The truck and the team, worked flawlessly this weekend,”
commented Scott Taylor. “Saturday’s race, we cracked the inside of
the right front wheel, causing the tire to go flat early on, but
the BFGoodrich Tire stayed together and we came home first. In
today’s points race we used that Roush motor to get by Oberg and
we never missed a beat. The Cup race I thought we had a chance.
Early on the track gave the 2WDs an advantage, but as good as the
BFGoodrich tires work for us, they do the same for Johnny.
Congrats to Johnny on the win. Going into Wheatland we have our
biggest lead in the Championship, but it’s only thirteen points.
The top three trucks are so closely matched; the championship is
far from decided.”
