The World Series of Off-Road Racing is a
new name for an exciting style of race event that was born in the
Midwest and has thrilled race fans over and over and over. The World
Series builds on an established 38-year heritage but with an eye to
the future and the potential for significant growth.
WSORR sanctions classes from top rank
pros to grassroots racers. Feature classes include high performance,
high horsepower race trucks in 4x4, 2WD and compact pickup
configurations. Fans flock to World Series events to watch trucks
racing in their natural environment — off-road!
The word is out: Off-road racing is HOT. And the World Series is the
place to watch all the action! The goal of the Series is to
keep spectators entertained with the fastest, most demanding, most
punishing and most thrilling off-road racing in the world!
All WSORR
race divisions are pushed to the limits as they tackle natural terrain
and dirt tracks. General rules of WSORR are similar to those in other
types of motorsports with an enormous emphasis on safety. In the
photos above, a sellout crowd (left) at the August, 2006 off-road
event at the Bark River International Raceway in Bark River, MI,
watches an 800 horsepower PRO 2WD race truck clear a table-top jump
while in the photo at right another massive crowd cheers racing action
at Crandon Raceway.
Off-road racing has shown remarkable
growth the past several years and a WSORR event ensures this
fan-friendly, sponsor-supported form of racing will continue its
upward trend. Midwest racing experienced record
growth in 2006! WSORR management is charged with making
short course off-road racing the most popular truck racing Series in
America. Season after season, Midwest off-road racing catapults racers
onto successful career paths. NASCAR super star Jimmie Johnson has
raced off-road in the Midwest, refining his considerable skills
against the finest closed course off-road racers in the World. So,
too, has current NASCAR and IRL driver Robbie Gordon.
Off-road racing is poised for greatness
in 2007 with a new and powerful TV package on SPEED Channel. WSORR
will be on the receiving end of increasing multi-media coverage from
all sources becoming a strong promotional and marketing tool,
providing race fans, teams, drivers, sponsors and promoters with an
off-road series delivering excitement and thrills at every event!

WHAT IS CHAMPIONSHIP OFF ROAD RACING?
Developed in 1983 Championship Off Road Racing™ (CORR) brings high
action four wheel motorsports including 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel
drive trucks onto closed course off road tracks. The 2007 CORR season
includes seven events in Los Angeles and San Diego, CA; Dallas, TX and
Las Vegas, NV
CORR is divided into two series, Pro and Sportsman. The Pro Series is
composed of three divisions: Pro 4 – Full-size 4wd race trucks, V8
engines, 800 HP; Pro 2 – Full-size 2wd race trucks, V8 engines, 800
HP; and Pro Lite – Compact/Mid-size 2wd race trucks, 4 cylinder
engines, 300+ HP. The Sportsman Series is made up of two buggy
divisions: Single Buggy -- Limited to a 1600cc VW Type 1 engine; and
Super Buggy – Featuring a 1650cc water cooled power plant.
WHAT DOES CORR DELIVER?
Championship Off Road Racing is ‘racer-tainment’, delivering credible,
adrenalin-inducing excitement for fans, in a vertically integrated
package for sponsors. CORR not only serves as the sanctioning body of
the sport, providing rules stability, CORR also controls all content
and broadcast rights through its in-house production facilities. Most
recently, CORR assumed control over promotion of nearly all events to
ensure continuity to build awareness and further develop the brand.
WHY DOES CORR CONTINUE TO BE “THE PLACE TO RACE OFF ROAD”?
Drivers, sponsors, and fans continue to be drawn to the unique style
of racing CORR offers. Current NASCAR superstars Brendan Gaughan and
Jimmie Johnson began their racing careers competing in the
Championship Off Road Racing series. More recently, other recognized
athletes like Boris Said, Jeremy McGrath, Travis Pastrana and Mike
Metzger have or will be trying their hand at this rough and tumble
series. Major sponsors such as title sponsor Lucas Oil, Nissan - the
Official Truck of Championship Off Road Racing, Kumho and Toyo tires,
and Fabtech and Skyjacker suspensions find value in the on-site
activation and on-camera exposure, as well as the brand alignment
between their products and CORR.
In 2006, competitor counts increased to 226 drivers (80 Pro and 146
Sportsman) representing 22 states and Canada with more. The reason for
the continued increase in competitor turnout is that CORR offers
racers an unparalleled competitive opportunity that guarantees their
sponsors exclusive series coverage on SPEED along with significant and
expanding, at-track activation opportunities in population-dense
markets.
WHERE IS CORR GOING?
In 2005, CORR transitioned to the West Coast as part of a multi-year
expansion plan to expose this high energy form of racer-tainment to
larger markets and audiences. The initial expansion focused on the
historical home for off-road racing, San Diego California with a total
of 8 rounds of racing at a temporary but purpose-built facility in
Chula Vista. 2007 sees a return to Chula Vista in an all new facility,
penetration into the Los Angeles and Inland Empire markets, and
expansion beyond California’s borders to Las Vegas and Dallas/Fort
Worth. |
