Taylor Comes Home with the early Pro-2 Points Lead.

The challenging off-road track at the I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan consisted of several high speed jumps, a couple of banked turns, and a rhythm section that really challenged the drivers.
After Friday’s practice, Scott was happy with the truck’s setup and felt confident about the opening rounds of the 2005 Lucas Oil CORR series.

Round 1
A total of twelve 12 vehicles took the green flag, with Scott in the fifth starting position. With a Le Mans start Scott had a plan to duck under the first 4 trucks into the first turn. Coming out if the first turn, the #1 Skyjacker BFGoodrich FORD F-150 gained two positions and the race was on.

As the race progressed, the first three trucks of Renezeder, Probst and Taylor were all within 3 seconds of each other. Halfway through the race Renezeder had to pull off due to mechanical problems leaving Probst in 1st and Taylor in 2nd. Within a couple of laps Taylor was right on Probst bumper waiting for his chance to make his move. As they went into the far end sweeping turn Probst went wide leaving the door open for Taylor to duck to the inside. As they both came on the front straight away Taylor and his Roush motor made the pass into 1st place and never looked back. Taking home the first win of the season for the Skyjacker, BFGoodrich, Ford F-150.

Round 2
Sunday morning saw rain move throughout the area, creating muddy conditions for the Pro-2 competitors. The inversion for the start of round two put Scott back in the 8th starting position.
This time when the green flag dropped Taylor came out of the first turn in 5th position, Almost immediately Scott had problems with his mud eater which made it very difficult to see very well. Dealing with this issue Taylor managed to work his way up to 3rd position, half way through the race. The muddy track conditions, made the track extremely slippery, especially in the two-banked turns. As Scott pushed hard to catch the leaders, the truck spun, which allowed one competitor to get by. At the finish, Scott came home a hard fought 5th place.

“Round one was a driver’s race. Round two, our toughest competition was the track conditions.,, It’s really difficult to get a good finish in a mud race, but with a win and a 5th, we still came out of the weekend with the lead in points.”- Scott Taylor.

Thanks to all our sponsors for all your support and the Taylor Racing Team looks forward to working hard at another championship for 2005.
