Consistency Extends Taylor’s Pro-2 Lead

The Lucas Oil CORR series returned to Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas after a one year absence. The track layout was brand new and the event featured nighttime racing under the lights. One additional round of racing was added to makeup for the weather cancelled event in Dresser, Wisconsin.

Round 6 – Friday night
The Friday evening event saw the Scott Taylor and his Skyjacker, BFGoodrich Tire, Ford F-150 start in the familiar eighth position (top 8 inversion). The wet track conditions caused Scott to use up all his tear offs in the first 2 laps. The limited visability forced Scott to compete with his helmet visor open. On lap three, Scott made it to 6th place. Halfway through the race, Scott made his way to third spot behind Evans and Probst. With only two laps to go, Probst made a mistake allowing Scott to grab 2nd place.  With only one lap left, there wasn’t enough time to make a charge for the lead. The race ended with a well fought 2nd place for Scott Taylor.

Round 7 – Saturday night
Again Scott started in the eight spot, but this time the track was much dryer. Coming out of the first turn, Scott and the Skyjacker, BFGoodrich Tire, Ford F-150 quickly made it to 5th place. As the race wound down, the BFGoodrich tires really hooked up putting Scott into 3rd place. With three laps to go, Renezeder slowed allowing Scott to move into 2nd place, again with Evan Evans in the lead. Again the race ended with Scott in 2nd place.

Round 8 – Sunday afternoon
The start of the final round of the weekend saw Scott in 7th place coming out of the first turn. At the halfway point of the race Scott worked his way into 2nd place, thanks in part to the Roush Performance powerplant. Then the real battle began. Scott and Evan Evans battled fiercely for the top spot the last for laps. The two competitors passed  each other for the lead several times. On the final lap, the crowd was on their feet, as Scott tried to make one last pass for the lead. Coming into the front straightaway, Scott got a little to wide and spun, finishing  in 2nd place, the third time this weekend.

Thanks to his consistency over the weekend, Scott Taylor and the Skyjacker, BFGoodrich Tires, Ford F-150 has opened a 32 point lead in the Pro-2 championship.

Amazingly, in the first eight rounds of racing Taylor Racing has 3 wins, and 5 second place finishes!
