- Scott Taylor's 2001 CORR
Pro-2 Championship Season
- TAYLOR WINS THIRD STRAIGHT
CORR CHAMPIONSHIP
TOPEKA, KANSAS. - September 23, 2001 -
- Scott Taylor won the 2001 CORR
Pro-2 championship here this weekend, making it his third straight
title in the CORR Exxon Superflo Series. Taylor had an amazing
eight wins this season, with four seconds, three thirds, a fifth
and only one DNF.
In Saturday's race (Round 15), Taylor, in his Exxon Superflo
Ford F-150, broke the bell housing on the transmission in the
very first lap. This was the first time all season that Taylor
finished out of the top three. Taylor and his closest competitor
in the championship race both broke on the first lap, which meant
that Taylor had clinched the championship, leading by 37 points
with one round of racing left. Even by breaking in this race,
Taylor was able to lock-up his third straight CORR championship
as the total points available in any race is 20 points.
In Sunday's race (Round 16), track conditions were wet and muddy
from a severe storm the night before. Taylor started at the rear
of the pack and planned to start slow and work his way through
traffic, but that was not to be as Scott could not avoid hooking
a bumper into a truck that spun in front of him. The rest of
the field pulled out a huge lead before Taylor got going again.
It took Taylor the entire race to pick his way through the mud
moving up to fifth place at the checkered flag.
Round 15 of the 2001 CORR season will be televised on ESPN 2
November 4 at 7:00 p.m. and again on November 9 at 5 a.m. Round
16 will air November 4 at 8 p.m. and again November 12 at 12
p.m. All times are Eastern Standard Time.
CRANDON BRINGS TAYLOR SEVENTH SEASON WIN, BUILDS CHAMPIONSHIP
POINTS LEAD
CRANDON, WISC. - September 2, 2001 -
- Scott Taylor won for the seventh
time in 13 races here this weekend in the Pro-2 division of the
2001 CORR Exxon Superflo Series.
In Saturday's race (Round 13), Taylor, in his Exxon Superflo
Ford F-150, jumped ahead of the competition early and took second
position going into the first turn. He moved into first place
by the second lap and then gradually built a lead over the second-place
truck. Taylor credited his great start to his new and improved
BFGoodrich® Mud-Terrain T/A® tires, which had just had
a compound upgrade.
"I can't say enough about the traction on the BFGoodrich
tires," said Taylor. "They stick like glue in the corners
and help you get the most out of your horsepower in the straightaways."
In Sunday's race (Round 14), Taylor started the race in sixth
place and continued to improve his position as the race progressed.
By the end of the race, Taylor had moved his Exxon Superflo Ford
up to third, nearly passing the first- and second- place trucks
on the race's final turn. The Round 13 win and third-place finish
in Round 14 gives Taylor a 37-point lead in the championship
points standings with just two events left.
The final event of the weekend was the Borg Warner Heavy Metal
race consisting of PRO-4 (4-Wheel Drive) and PRO-2 (2-Wheel Drive)
race trucks. Taylor finished first in class and fourth overall.

- TAYLOR DOMINATES FT. DODGE,
STRETCHES POINTS LEAD
FT. DODGE, IOWA - July 29, 2001 -
- Scott Taylor continued to pull
away from the rest of the Pro-2 field in the CORR championship
points race by taking two wins and a second-place finish in the
CORR Exxon Superflo Series here this weekend.
To make up for a weather-related cancellation earlier this spring,
an extra round of racing was held during CORR's second stop at
Ft. Dodge Friday evening.
In Friday evening's race (Round 2), Taylor started in the eighth
position in his Exxon Superflo Ford F-150 and quickly moved up
to third by the end of the first lap. On the very next lap Taylor
worked his way around the second-place vehicle and set his sights
on the leader, who by this time has pulled out to a :07 lead.
Taylor's charge resulted in a second-place finish, four feet
behind the leader as they crossed the finish line.
In Saturday's race (Round 9), Taylor, in his Exxon Superflo Ford
F-150, went from eighth on the grid to third in the first lap
and then moved up to second place on Lap 2. On Lap 5, Taylor
moved into first place and extended his lead to win his fifth
race of the season.
Sunday's race (Round 10), was almost a duplicate of Saturday's
race with Taylor again charging up through the field to win his
sixth race of the season in his Exxon Superflo Ford. The margin
of victory was half of a lap.
Round 9 of the 2001 CORR season will be televised on ESPN2, Sept.
8 at 4 p.m. and again on Sept. 15 at 3:30 a.m. Round 10 will

- TAYLOR EXTENDS POINTS
LEAD IN CRANDON
CRANDON, WISC. - June 25, 2001 -
- Scott Taylor literally ran away
from the competition here this weekend as he won his third and
fourth Pro-2 races of the 2001 CORR Exxon Superflo Series.
"Everything just clicked for us all weekend," said
Taylor. "The team, the truck and the track - I couldn't
have asked for more out of any of them. Crandon was very kind
to us, and I'm looking forward to racing here again at the end
of the season."
In Saturday's race (Round 5), Taylor, in his Exxon Superflo Ford
F-150, breezed by the field and led from the first turn until
the finish line. During the race, he gradually built a 30-second
lead over the second place truck. Taylor credited his great start
to his BFGoodrich® Mud-Terrain T/A® KR tires and new
Roush-built Ford motor.
Sunday's race (Round 6), was almost a duplicate of Saturday's
race with Taylor again getting a great start and taking the lead
in the first corner. This race was a little closer in that it
took the Exxon Superflo Ford three to four laps to pull out a
comfortable lead (12 seconds) which he maintained to the finish
line for his fourth win in five races.
Round 5 of the 2001 CORR season will be televised on ESPN 2,
July 7 at 2 p.m. and again on July 8 at 3 a.m. Round 6 will air
July 7 at 6 p.m. and again July 10 at 5 a.m. All times are Eastern
Daylight Time. The next two rounds of the 2001 CORR season will

- TAYLOR RACING CONTINUES
WINNING WAYS IN ANTIGO
ANTIGO, WISC. - June 11, 2001 -
- Once again, Scott Taylor of
Taylor Racing dominated the Pro-2 division of the CORR Exxon
Superflo Series here this weekend and extended his points lead
over the rest of the field.
In Saturday's race (Round 3), Taylor, in his Exxon Superflo Ford
F-150, started in eighth position based on an inversion of the
top eight places in the point standings. He wasted little time
slicing through the field and took the lead before the end of
the third lap. Once in front, Taylor never looked back and went
on to win his second race in row. Racing in very muddy and slippery
conditions, Taylor credited his BFGoodrich® Mud-Terrain T/A®
KR tires for giving him the traction he needed to win the race.
Due to a downpour Saturday night and much of Sunday, the track
was again muddy and slippery for Sunday's Round 4. Starting from
the rear of the field, Taylor worked his way up to third where
he finished, extending his points lead in the 2001 Championship
points chase.
Round 3 of the 2001 CORR season will be televised on ESPN 2 June
23 at 5 p.m. and again on June 25 at 4 a.m. Round 4 will air
July 1 at 7 p.m. and again July 2 at 5 a.m. All times are Eastern
Daylight Time. The next two rounds of the 2001 CORR season will
be held in Crandon, Wisc. June 23 and 24.
- SCOTT TAYLOR BEGINS PRO-2
TITLE DEFENSE WITH SEASON-OPENING WIN
FT. DODGE, IOWA - May 21, 2001 -
- Defending CORR Pro-2 points
champion Scott Taylor picked up a Pro-2 class victory this weekend
at Ft. Dodge, Iowa, the first race of the 2001 season. Taylor's
goal for this race was to get the 2001 season off on the right
foot, and he did just that with a down-to-the-wire finish.
"I've said that the 2001 season is going to be 'business
as usual' for us," said Taylor. "We followed the same
strategy for this race that allowed us to win the championship
last year - hard-nose driving with a better vehicle than anyone
else out there."
Taylor shot to the front of the pack from the green flag, crediting
his BFGoodrich® Mud-Terrain T/A® KR tires for the great
traction. Once in front, Taylor, driving his familiar Exxon Superflo
Ford, diced back and forth with 2000 runner-up Evan Evans in
one of the most exciting races of the weekend. In the end, it
was Taylor Racing, Ford, Exxon and BFGoodrich Tires in the Winner
Circle.
Sunday's races were postponed due to rain and tornado warnings.
CORR officials will schedule an extra round of racing at an event
later in the 2001 season.
Round 1 of the 2001 CORR season will be televised on ESPN 2 June
4 at 5:30 p.m. and again on June 6 at 4 a.m. All times are Eastern
Daylight Time. The next two rounds of the 2001 CORR season will
be held in Antigo, Wis., on June 9 and 10, 2001.
